Here are some suggested extra km for those who would like to ride a bit further each day.

While we will make information available about possible extra rides, your safety on these rides is your own responsibility.

If you extend your ride, you do still need to bear in mind our schedule for when meals and route support is available along the trail. Information about road rides on the Murray to Mountains website.

Day 1:

These are all out and back rides to your starting point.

From Bright:

Bright – Wandiligong 10 km return – easy trail

Porepunkah – Mt buffalo. 72 km return Challenging climb!

Buckland Valley 38 km Level valley road with views of Mt Buffalo

From Myrtleford:

Myrtleford Loop trail – 5 km inc section of Rail Trail

Dandongadale Lake Buffalo and return

Happy Valley Rd return same route. (goes over to Kiewa Valley)

Day 2

Flame Trees Mountain bike trail. Parallel to the rail trail for the last 8 km before Beechworth, on both sides of the trail.

This beautiful flowing trail winds through the woodland on both sides of the trail, offering a different sort of challenge if you have brought your knobbly fat tyres!

Day 3

Tarrwingee – El Dorado – Londrigan side trip 18 km

Wangaratta – Milawa 30 km return, on rail trail extension.

Wangaratta Loop Trail

Rutherglen – Wahgunya Trail 18 km return– not directly connected to Rail Trail.
